The Graduate School of Manado State University (UNIMA) has once again held a closed-door examination for graduate students on Tuesday (7/7). The event is an important stage in the process of completing students’ studies before they proceed to the open examination and fulfill all academic requirements. Today’s closed-door exam was attended by three students: Jolie Ponamon, Selvie Rumagit, and Yohanis Namsa. Each participant presented the results of their research before the panel of examiners, and defended their academic work through a question-and-answer session and an academic evaluation. The closed-door examination was conducted in an orderly manner and with strong academic spirit. The examining board provided various inputs, suggestions, and recommendations intended to refine the research findings before the students enter the final stages of completing their studies. UNIMA’s Graduate School Director, Prof. Dr. Rolles Palilingan, MS., stated that the implementation of the closed-door exam forms part of UNIMA Graduate School’s commitment to maintaining academic quality and producing graduates with competence, integrity, and quality research skills. “Through the closed-door exam, students are not only tested on the substance of their research, but also on their critical thinking abilities, mastery of theory, methodology, and the contribution of their research results to the development of science and society,” he said. He added that UNIMA Graduate School continues to improve the quality of education through objective, transparent academic processes that are oriented toward higher education quality standards. It is hoped that this closed-door examination will serve as motivation for all UNIMA Graduate School students to continue producing innovative, relevant scientific work and providing solutions to various challenges in education as well as other development sectors. With the successful conduct of the closed-door exam, UNIMA Graduate School reaffirms its commitment to producing outstanding, professional, and competitive graduates, capable of making real contributions to regional development, the nation, and the academic world.
